Are they myths?
Once you start going to a Chiropractor, you to have to keep
going.
This may not be a myth, depending on the competence and
motives of the Chiropractor you choose. Naturally, patients
don't want a lifetime commitment. They want to get well and
learn to take care of themselves.
Treatment will be painful, and maybe even harmful.
This myth often delays people from seeking help until their
health problems are overwhelming. Properly performed
Chiropractic treatment is often the best treatment to relieve your
pain in a lasting way. Although not always done, there are
ways to make Chiropractic treatment completely comfortable, without
sacrificing any of the effectiveness.
Chiropractors are "quacks," not real doctors at
all.
This notion was deliberately created by the American Medical
Association (AMA) in an attempt to stifle Chiropractic.
Unfortunately, the AMA's actions had a negative effect on
Chiropractic education and there is a substantial diversity of
competence among Chiropractors. However, many Chiropractors
are real doctors, especially in Canada, where the
Chiropractic education is more advanced than in the United States.
